Caramilla survey and academic English clinic

We would like to learn about the needs of academics who use English as a second (or third, fourth..) language – just like most of the people at eNTERFACE!

We have put an informal survey on

and invite everyone to participate.

The survey uses checklist items from the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning, Teaching, and Assessment (CEFRL), and related academic English language portfolios produced by CERCLES, the European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education.

NOTE: These checklists were originally meant to be used in the first language of the language learner, but they are not produced in all of the languages present here at eNTERFACE, so we are using the English versions. If you need clarification on any of the statements, drop over to our table, or email

If you are interested in assessing your English using your own language, you can get the assessment grid in 40 languages from

You can access CERCLES portfolios in several languages at

We’ll be running the first session on Friday 22 at 3.30pm in the CONNECT room. The sessions are for people at any level who would like to work on their English language skills. The content of the sessions will be decided by the participants, but it’s likely we will discuss resources, common errors, and practise presentation and writing skills.

If you’re interested, feel free to bring examples of your own writing you’d like to work on.
Please bookmark the links below which we will use during the session.
