At INTETAIN, an award of 500 Euro was set aside for the best paper or demonstration by a Dutch (PhD) student. The award was sponsored by IIP/Create and honors the paper or demonstration of exceptional merit dealing with a subject related to the IIP/Create's aims.
IIP/Create is a Dutch ICT Innovation Platform (IIP) that aims for a national ecosystem composed of industries, knowledge institutes, and creative SME's for the purpose of a sustainable growth in the area of the creating industries. The jury for the IIP/Create award decided to give the award to the demonstration "FeelSound" by Michiel Hakvoort and Wim Fikkert.
The runners-up were alpha-WoW by Danny Oude bos and others, and MoodSwings by Leticia Bialaskorski.

The ICST Best Student Paper Awards were given based on the feedback of the reviewers. The two awards went to Roan Boer Rookhuiszen et al. for their paper "Generating Instructions in a 3D Game Environment: Efficiency or Entertainment?", and Marco Pasch et al. for their paper "Immersion in Movement-Based Interaction".
