At the University of Twente’s Centre of Telematics and Information Technology, research is carried out in several areas belonging to the realm of human media interaction and database technology, ranging from truly fundamental to highly application oriented: speech and language processing, XML search, multimedia access and presentation, multimodal interaction, models for information fusion, emotion detection and dialogue systems. CTIT has participated in numerous national and EU research projects on multimedia retrieval. University of Twente has a long track record for participation in international benchmarks for information processing and retrieval tasks. CTIT has frequently worked together with multimedia content providers, and has been involved in a number of networks of excellence sponsored by the EU.
